Philosopher or Farmer?

Is it easier to deal with people when you feel you are different, or when  it's you who has to deal with someone who is different? Imagine that, on one side, you are a philosopher in a crowd of farmers. On the other side 'you' are one of the farmers having to deal with the philosopher. Which situation is more comfortable for you? In the first case, you know nothing about farming, so you find it difficult to interact with your interlocutors. In the second case, you know nothing about philosophy, so you can't think of anything to talk about with the newcomer. A solution could be to show interest in the activity of the other(s). Acquiring new knowledge in an unknown field could be more beneficial than feeling awkward in a situation where difference may be perceived as a factor of distance, separation, division. In reality, all people are human beings under the sun, no matter the education, skills, race, origin, social status. Getting to know each other better can be valuable for all concerned.
