Yesterday I attended a Bluegrass concert performed by a string sextet who displayed the motto: “Music really does make the world a better place.” I liked the music and I loved the motto. Is it possible that music makes the world a better place? And if it is so, how does it happen? Think for a moment about the way YOU feel while listening to a piece you enjoy. You experience excitement, relaxation, tenderness, joy, a sense of communion. Your spirit is happy, at peace, your whole self is in the “now”, absorbing every single note and making it your own. If you, I, and everybody else, could feel this kind of “blissful presence” most of the time, the world could really be a better (= happier) place indeed!
